Things you can do to Practice Writing
The beginning stages of writing can be challenging for young writers because they are unsure how to spell things correctly or express their thoughts with paper and a pencil. Non-fiction writing is a key focus for our district this school year to improve upon. At a kindergarten level, writing looks a lot different at this time of the school year. Most students will be writing with scribbles or pictures then will progress to a simple word or more in order to label items in their work. At home please encourage your child to draw pictures about transportation and things that move. For example have your child draw a picture of something that helps you travel. They can then write a sentence about their picture and/or label the parts of their drawings. Have fun!!

Build things that are tall, short, wide or thin
